3. ENTERING DATA INTO THE SPORTQUEST TEMPLATE
-
When entering scores into
the template, the first 13 columns must be completed or some
computer systems may not be able to generate reports (ALL of the
scores are dependent on AGE, GENDER, POSITION).
-
ALWAYS use arrow keys when moving between
cells because clicking the “ENTER” key over empty
cells may cause some computer systems to look for a value in those
cells causing an error to occur
If you accidentally fill in a cell(s)
that does not require a value:
a) Highlight cell(s) that you want the
contents removed
b) Select “CLEAR” from the EDIT
menu.
c) Select “CONTENTS”
|
|
|
G =
Goalie D = Defense
F = Forward
|
|
L = Left
R = Right
|
|
M = Male
F = Female
|
|
Birthday MUST be in the
format: MM/DD/YYYY (for
example: 01/01/1972)
|
-
If
you do not have a position for a player, use "F" for forward
-
If
you do not have a shot for a player, use "R" for right
-
If
you do not have a gender for a player, use "M" (unless obvious
otherwise)
|
If a player did not
perform a test just leave the score (or cell) blank. Do NOT put a score of 0.00
or 0 etc. Just leave the box empty.
After entering all
data, check to make sure that all the proper columns are filled in
and units are correct.
DO NOT ENTER UNITS AFTER THE SCORES. Only enter
the score with proper decimal in each cell (i.e. 300 seconds is a
highly improbable amount of time in which to perform an on-ice
drill; the number is probably missing a decimal and should have been
entered as 3.00).
All
data must be in the units in the brackets ( )
in each column heading
|
Hints
|
|
1)Enter data for each
drill for all the players. In other words enter
data in columns (not in rows). This will help
identify any data that is very different form the other scores
of the same drill.
|
|
2)You can also format
the column with the birthdays so that they are in the
mm/dd/yyyy format by highlighting all the birthday cells and
select: format, cells, mm/dd/yyyy from the list and press
enter.
|
|
3)Make sure there are
no spaces before the birthdate
|
|
4) ( division, gender,
etc.)
|
|
5)Does the data look
right? Are the right and left times correct? Usually the drills to
the left are quicker than drills to the right except for the
pivot drills.
|
4. HOW DO I SAVE DATA ON TO THE TEMPLATE?
|
It
is recommended that you save the Upload Template
for future changes
|

C. Common Uploading Problems
To ensure
a smooth data upload, use the newest upload templates. The most
recent version can be found in the Coach Option section under
the link Print Data Sheet called Download Data Sheet.
You can also download the template directly from the page http://www.sport-quest.com/skilltesting/upload_template.xls
Be sure
that all data is in universally accepted metric
measurements (height in cm and weight in kg). If you want
to practice uploading a few SAMPLE teams, feel free. However, when
you are finished, notify SportQuest via e-mail (support@sport-quest.com) so
that the SAMPLE players/teams can be deleted from the database.
